Clinical value
76/100
Medically credible, screening-grade
Empowerment
82/100
Own the device, medical features free
Everyday value
70/100
30-day battery, elegant, fewer smarts
The rare device that is strong on both patient-first axes: FDA-cleared ECG, SpO2, and AFib detection — now over-the-counter — with the clinical functions unlocked and no mandatory subscription.
What it measures
Medical-grade ECG, SpO2, AFib detection, continuous HR, skin temperature, respiratory rate, breathing-disturbance (sleep-apnea screening), sleep stages, snoring.
Regulatory status
FDA-cleared ECG, SpO2, and AFib detection. ECG reclassified as OTC in 2025 (K240795) — US users no longer need cardiologist activation. Separate clearance for a scale with AFib detection.
Validation & accuracy
ECG and SpO2 are clinically validated as the basis of the clearances. Sleep-apnea function is screening-grade, not diagnostic polysomnography. Among the most medically rigorous consumer devices.
Data control & export
Health Mate app with free unlimited cloud storage, a documented public developer API, and ECG PDFs to share with a doctor.
Wearability & battery
Hybrid analog watch with real hands and a small sub-dial. ~30-day battery — the longest here. Elegant and low-maintenance; fewer smart features by design.
Cost & access
Own the hardware (~$249, often discounted). Medical features are NOT paywalled. Withings+ (~$9.95/mo) adds optional coaching only.
Who it serves
Patients who want clinically actionable, shareable data without a recurring fee. Lowest agency friction of the consumer/recovery group.
Who is left out or burdened
Mid-priced upfront cost; ECG is a spot check, not continuous monitoring.
✓ Strengths
- FDA-cleared ECG, SpO2, AFib — ECG now OTC
- Medical features not paywalled; you own the hardware
- Open API and free cloud; easy ECG PDF
- ~30-day battery — longest here
✕ Weaknesses
- ECG is single-lead and intermittent
- Fewer smart features (hybrid analog)
- Mid-priced upfront cost
- US sleep-apnea features are screening-only
76
Why this clinical score. FDA-cleared ECG + SpO2 + AFib and sleep-apnea screening clear the actionability bar; held below the dedicated cardiac and CGM devices because ECG is single-lead and intermittent.
82
Why this empowerment score. Own the device, medical features work with no subscription, open API, free cloud storage, easy ECG PDF export — almost no lock-in.
70
Why this everyday score. Class-leading 30-day battery and genuine watch comfort, but as a hybrid it does less day-to-day than a full smartwatch.

Reviews & coverage
Reviewers love the hybrid analog look hiding ECG, SpO2 and (newer) sleep-apnea detection, plus weeks of battery. The knock is fewer smartwatch features and some health metrics arriving via app updates or paywalls.
